From what I hear, the Burton streetcourse is built in the gym of a no longer existent elementary school. Renovated in 2004 with newly poured concrete floor and improved ramps, this park is a jewel for Vashon residents. Although small, it incorporates good design and flow that squeeze use out of nearly every square inch. With a 4 ft. mini, flybox section and hubbas w/handrail, most standard skatepark elements are represented here. As of late 2004 the cost was $2 a session for members(w/$10 annual membership fee), $5 non-members. Upon review of the session hours, I'm surprised to see they are only an hour and a half long. Not sure how that works ($15 for three sessions or 4 and a half hours?). I need to put my brain to this and see if I can figure out how these rates don't make it difficult to use on a regular basis. Vashon island has many amazing parks and natural wonders, props to them for giving such consideration to an alternative activity such as skating.
