According to a case study found online here, this park was created in two stages. First the metal ramps were purchased by the city and located at a temporary location to determine usage needs of the local skaters. After finding that there was a heavy use response (duh) the city decided to expand the park. That's apparently how they arrived in this unique mix of peripheral concrete structures, including a shallow bowl, that surround a ho-hum prefab ramp layout. All in all, I enjoy skating the park but there are problems. The concrete rhythm section (humps) are poured with fat seams around the base of each hill, negating any speed you build while pumping through them. The bowl doesn't drain well, and the deep end is often cluttered with debris as a result. As for the prefab stuff, nothing will really spark your imagination here, it's all pretty standard stuff. The proportions of the ramps are decent, unlike some of the micro-Skatewave and Huna stuff that could have been used. They are metal though which I find to be an unpleasant surface to skate most of the time. From overheating in the summer, to being deadly slippery when moist, there are safer surface choices out there. With the cement stuff, flat bars, mini-ramp, and various launches/hips/and hubbas, this is a fun park to session.
